PRITCHARD HEADS TO ROUND FIVE IN HIGH SPIRITS

Jason Pritchard will be looking to build on his impressive performances so far in the 2015 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship this weekend as round five heads to the Harry Flatters stages, based in Brecon over the famous Epynt Military ground.

Pritchard finished second during the fourth round of the Championship over the Seven Valley stages. The Welshman also impressed out in Sweden at the end of June, finishing 9th overal and first in class whilst making his debut in the Midnight Sun Rally:

“Sweden was such a fantastic experience and I loved rallying over there, to finish 9th overall and first in class was an achievement I’m proud of. I hope to take this form and the second place finish from the last round into the Harry Flatters stages and put in another good peformance at the end of the month.”

The Harry Flatters Stages will take place on Saturday 26th July and it’s the first tarmac round of the championships. Pritchard is hoping he can continue his fine form in the championship on the stages that he is already familiar with:

“I’m a member of the Brecon Motor Club so I’ve had the fortune of going round the stages already. The MK2 I had last year was tarmac spec but I struggled with the wrong gear ratio. “However I’m hopeful that what we learnt last year will help us this time round and allow us to be up there fighting at the front and to try and secure some more good points.

Even though he went round the stages last year, it’s an event that he usually watches his Father (Eian Pritchard) compete in and he supports him in the service:

“I haven’t competed much over Epynt as my Dad usually does the stages if we do them at all, I usually service for him as he helps me when I’m driving. “Having grown up watching many rallies here, I’ve seen a number of big crashes. It’s a place that you have to respect, if you don’t then it can quite easily catch you out. I have huge respect for anyone who competes up here as it is very high speed and a bit like a race track without the safety of run off areas.”

Pritchard is hoping that he can call upon his Father’s tips for competing on the stages, especially as he’s been victorious on a number of occasions over Epynt:

“There are a number of Epynt experts and they do all the events that run up here so they know the place very well, my Dad was one of them when he was younger and he still was up until a few years ago, however he’s had to step back recently to support me, which I’m incredibly grateful for. “He’s won on Epynt a number of times in a MK2 Escort so I will be asking him for a lot of tips and advice, hopefully I can follow in his footsteps and win this round of the Championship.”

The 2015 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship continues in Neath Valley and round six is on Saturday 15th August.
